WASHOUGAL, WA - Team Chevy Trucks Kawasaki’s James Stewart earned his fourth straight 125 overall title on Sunday at the Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Wash., the eighth round of the Chevy Trucks U.S. Motocross Championships.

Stewart was again dominant in sweeping both motos and led nearly every lap en route to the 14th 125 motocross win of his career and 25th overall. He used two top-five starts to gain the early lead in both motos and kept out of the trouble for the remainder of the races, cruising to the runaway win in each moto.

“I’m just having a good time out there,” said Stewart. “It's hard when you miss the first four races, and I wish Mike and Ryan and all of those guys the best. I'm kind of out of the championship right now, but I'm just going to try and win some more motos and I'll see what happens.

“My Kawasaki got me off to a pretty decent start, and I don't know what happened to Mike [Brown], but I hope he's all right. He's a great rider, and I made up a lot of points today and I don't know how Grant finished, but I'm going to try to knock off some more motos in a couple weeks in Millville."

Stewart’s good fortune could not change the fate of Team Pro Circuit/Kawasaki/Chevy Trucks teammate Mike Brown, who entered the event with the points, but limped off the track in the second moto after a terrible crash knocked him out of the race.

Brown had looked sharp all weekend at Washougal after admittedly struggling the past few weeks on finding his rhythm on the track. He gave Stewart a good run in the first moto before finishing second and was running second once again in the second moto before a crash on Lap 10 sent him to the ground. While Brown was attempting to remount his bike, he was t-boned by Ryan Hughes, who was racing over a blind jump and couldn’t avoid running into the Kawasaki rider. Hughes would continue on, but the day was over for Brown, who was sent flying through the air.

Brown was treated by track doctors for a variety of bumps and bruises, including a separated shoulder that was promptly popped back into place. He will be checked out by local doctors this week and is expected to be ready in three weeks for the next round event in Millville, Minn.

Brown’s misfortune handed the overall point lead to Grant Langston, who had an 4-5 moto finish on the day, and now holds an 11 point advantage, Brown 282 to 271. Stewart moved into fourth with 200 points.

Team Pro Circuit/Kawasaki/Chevy Trucks rider Eric Sorby dropped to seventh place in the standings after missing the race due to a team suspension handed down earlier in the week. Sorby will return to racing at Millville.

Team Chevy Trucks Kawasaki rider Ezra Lusk’s day didn’t go too much better than Brown’s, as the 11-year veteran could not fight off the affects of bacterial infection in his stomach. He skipped the entire day of practice on Saturday and attempted to race the first 250 moto on Sunday only to pull off the track due to dehydration. He did not race in the second moto.

Kevin Windham (1-1) took home the overall win. Ricky Carmichael holds a 47-point lead over Windham.
